Favorite TV shows you should watch

Occasionally good TV shows seem to appear. I rarely sample most TV, so I'm willing to be convinced that there may be other TV shows out there that don't suck.

non-fiction:

• Cosmos by Carl Sagan (7 DVD Set)
• Evolution Boxed Set (8 hour PBS special produced by WGBH Boston, narrated by Liam Neeson)

fiction:

• Alias (seasons 1-3 are best, season 4 is ok, season 5 is barely worth watching just for completeness)
• Battlestar Galactica (new series, old series is good for reference, late 70s campiness, Lorne Green)
• Heroes (season 1 was amazing, season 2 was decent background (get seasons 1-2 on DVD from Amazon, or if that's sold out, get just season 1 on DVD), season 3 - started out strange, seems to be getting better)
• Stargate: SG1 (their reframing/recasting of all mythological religious leaders / gods / demigods throughout the series as simply aliens with technology is quite a clever cultural hack / reframing.)
