Apologies for taking so long to get back to you. My last days at Technorati kept me very busy and subsequently I've been heads down handling urgent matters that I had previously postponed until I had left Technorati.

Next up for me I'm focusing on a few things:

• microformats.org. proactively improving and helping out the microformats.org community and microformats efforts in general.
• non-profit pro-bono tech consulting. looking into one or two non-profits that can use some volunteer tech consulting help with their website(s).
• taking the summer off and figuring out what I want to do next.

In addition, I will be speaking at several upcoming conferences, most often on the subject of microformats.

Could you post or recommend someone for this job opportunity

In response to people emailing job descriptions/opportunities for companies/organizations:

Hi ___,

Sounds like a very cool high technology company/organization.

However, I'm going to hand this one right back to you.

Encourage your friends to first:

1) Put up a "jobs" page on their website and list the job.

2) Put up a blog on their website, and blog about the fact that they are looking for this job, with appropriate tags etc.

Content belongs on web pages, not in emails.

Once they've published a permalink to a job announcement on their blog, it becomes *much* easier for anyone else that wants to help them to blog about it and send people their way.

If they can't do 1) and 2) then they certainly don't need a business development director, they first need someone to handle communications period who understands how the web works in this day and age. In fact, biz dev is actually a huge distraction for a startup of any kind (as I can very much relate to from experiences at Technorati).

microformats opportunity for sites that do peer reviews

Usually regarding one or more sites that could use microformats, and maybe would hire someone to help add microformats. As I'm currently a bit too busy to take on specific one-off microformat projects, I like to get the developers of such sites involved/educated directly, both so they can do the microformats markup themselves, and so that they'll maintain it.

Take a look at http://corkd.com/ - it's social wine reviews site (all user reviews) and uses microformats all over the place already, for the reviews, tags, the profiles of people, and their relationships.

If you have contacts at those companies, please encourage them to adopt microformats and encourage their developers to join the microformats community and get started:

proposal for a new microformat

Very often people prematurely propose a new microformat on the microformats-new (or worse, microformats-discuss) list, name it hWhatever etc.

Often you can't template an entire email response, but perhaps can re-use a paragraph or two.

Communication redirection

In general I still have far too much email to catch-up on, and while I'm methodically improving my overall email handling efficiency in terms of lists, handling different types of emails etc., I recognize there are limits to how fast I can keep up with how much email I seem to get, and thus my email responsiveness has a very high variance.

However, I've been working on improving my communication efficiency in general [1], and thus if possible, I encourage you to contact me via instant messaging for meeting up or notifying me of events you think I might be interested in.
