According to a Gallup poll on 2009-02-11 (the eve before Darwin's birthday), "only 39% of Americans say they "believe in the theory of evolution," while a quarter say they do not believe in the theory, and another 36% don't have an opinion either way."

And the US ranks second to last, just above Turkey, in the acceptance of the theory of evolution in the Western World.

I recommend you read it, familiarize yourself with it, the explanations, and the debunking of various arguments/rhetoric used by mythology worshippers against evolution.

• Cosmos series by Carl Sagan
